SOS started on July 4th, 2019 in response to a newspaper article in the Peninsula Daily News.  This prompted leaders in the Sequim, WA community to create a Facebook Group that quickly but unexpectedly swelled to 2400 members.  Grassroots meetings at Sequim restaurants and other venues always drew big turnout, because the shock and concern caused by this particular development - a MAT clinic - was so great in our town.  Eventually we knew a formal, 501(c)(4) non-profit advocacy group should be organized to serve the community and that was finalized on August 15, 2019.  Sequim/Dungeness Valley residents should always have an organization keeping a watchful eye on developments in the Olympic Rainshadow region so we won't be caught off guard again.

Save Our Sequim will be that organization.
